Drum Scanning
Drum Scanning
Drum scans are the highest quality scans available. We utilize a Howtek HiResolve8000 to do all of our drum scanning operations. All scans are color corrected and exported as a 48bit RBG TIFF file. If you require a different format, please send us a message and we will try to accommodate your request.
Is it costly? Yes.
Is it worth it? Absolutely!
There is no better assurance if your original negative is destroyed than having the highest quality, true to the original, down to the grain resolution digital archive of your images.
Scans are available with or without the film rebate borders. Please send us a message if you wish to have the rebate included in the final scan. For 35mm scans with the rebate included, you may notice bubbles in the sprocket holes. This is due to the mounting fluid creating pockets in the sprockets. We can remove the bubbles with an additional editing fee.
All negatives will be returned to the return address via USPS. All digital files will be made available on a secure website for 30 days after the scans are published. Please send all negatives in a protective archival sleeve and we highly recommend a hard mailing envelope like those provided by USPS priority mailers.
Local drop-off and pickup is available at our partner locations.
